Colour is at the center of Isabelle Delannoy's attention. The artist works with a limited range of colours, made from natural pigments and which are adapted until the correct harmony is reached. This endows her sober and vigorous paintings with an extremely distinguished atmosphere. Instead of bright colours, the artist would rather paint in colour nuances and tones, colours of clay, shades of ochre, which gradually mix together thanks to masterful skills. When composing a painting Isabelle Delannoy is aiming above all at rendering movements. Starting from a sketch she has imagined or drawn from her memory, which reflects the vivacity and strength of her drawing, Isabelle Delannoy applies layer upon layer of paint and alternates between matter and glaze. The result consists of figurative art, blurred and tending to abstraction, and gives a touch of unreality to poetic landscapes. And in every painting, there is an artistic representation of movements, as the stirring of river-like paths, which wander faraway and evoke memories long forgotten.
